School in Portugal is latest to support LPT's fun campaign

Funky Hair Funday has gone international!

The Little Princess Trust’s bright campaign celebrates style, identity and imagination – and can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter their hair length.

Pupils at St Peter's International School in Portugal held a Funky Hair Funday to support The Little Princess Trust.

Many schools and businesses in the UK have already held their own Funky Hair Funday to raise the profile of our work and valuable funds to support our free wig provision service and our backing for childhood cancer research.

And now a school in Portugal has joined the fun, by inviting students to style their hair and heads while learning about the way The Little Princess Trust helps children with hair loss.

Staff said the day taught the children about the benefits of student participation.

St Peter’s International School in Palmela raised a whopping £831 from its Funky Hair Funday when children were invited to place donations in collection boxes.

The day came about after Helena Loureiro, a pupil at the school suggested hosting a Funky Hair Funday to help LPT.

Priscila, Helena Loureiro's mother, said the day taught children lessons about the spirit of solidarity and showed them what can be achieved through active student participation.

The event raised more than £800 to help The Little Princess Trust provide wigs for children with hair loss.

The Little Princess Trust is fortunate to receive great support from people in Portugal and the country is one of those outside the UK where our free wig provision service operates.

A partnership began in 2020 to work with wig stylists in Portugal and children can have our wigs fitted  in Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra.
