Global company makes huge donation to our free wig service

Vicky makes the case for LPT in annual charity challenge

A meeting of beliefs and values has seen a global asset management company fund our wig provision service for a week.

Janus Henderson Investors has donated an incredible £32,093 to The Little Princess Trust to help us fulfil our Hair and Hope mission.

This fantastic donation, made through the Janus Henderson Foundation, will not only cover the cost of making the wigs, but also the fitting and styling too.

The donation came about when Vicky Burdett, who works at Janus Henderson as a Marketing Executive, put The Little Princess Trust forward as a charity to support during the company’s annual Charity Challenge.

Vicky had known about The Little Princess Trust since primary school and donated more than 12 inches of her own hair earlier this year when she also raised more than £2,000 for us.

She was able to demonstrate to those deciding where the funding should go that the beliefs and values of Janus Henderson closely align with those of The Little Princess Trust.

Vicky, pictured left top photo, sees a selection of our wigs on her visit to Hereford while, above, she also raised more than £2,000 for LPT when she donated her hair earlier this year.

“The Hair and Hope message is very strongly linked to Janus Henderson’s purpose of ‘investing in a brighter future together’,” Vicky added.

Vicky was also able to show the charity challenge panel that 50% of her fundraising for The Little Princess Trust had come from work colleagues while other people working at Janus Henderson had donated their long locks to the charity, too.

Seeing behind the scenes of everything The Little Princess Trust does is truly remarkable

To mark the start of the company’s week of giving, Vicky travelled to The Little Princess Trust’s headquarters in Hereford to get a closer look at how we make wigs and learn more about our funding of childhood cancer research.

“Seeing the behind the scenes of everything The Little Princess Trust does is truly remarkable," she said.

"The Janus Henderson Week of Giving marks our support for the incredible work they do to provide Hair and Hope to children and young people with cancer.

"I am grateful to have spent the day with the LPT teams, the real superheroes of our society!

"It is abundantly clear the massive impact they have, not only in their community, but on a global scale too. I am so proud to support LPT.”

Vicky will be able to report back to not only her colleagues at Janus Henderson, but also her family as her dad Keith and brother Mike have also donated their hair to The Little Princess Trust!
