Golf club to use helicopter in flying raffle

Captain praised for his 'brilliant' and 'creative' support

A golf club captain is taking his support for The Little Princess Trust to a whole new level by using a helicopter to select the winners from a unique raffle.

For instead of tickets, supporters will be given a golf ball that will be dropped from the flying chopper above Burghill Valley Golf Club near Hereford.

A special green will be created for the occasion and there will be cash prizes for every ball that ends up in the hole while the overall winner scoops a four-ball at the Brabazon at The Belfry.

The ‘helicopter golf ball drop’ is the latest fundraiser held at the club after Burghill’s men’s section caption Pete Griffiths made The Little Princess Trust his chosen charity of the year.

Pete Griffiths made The Little Princess Trust his charity of the year.

Pete decided to support LPT as he is a friend of our founder, Wendy Tarplee-Morris, and told members at Burghill how we provide real hair wigs and fund childhood cancer research.

Previous fundraising events at the club include a race night and a ‘Guess My Drive’ contest while a Captain’s Day, sponsored by Formus Pro, is also being held on July 27 to raise money for LPT.

Phil Brace, from The Little Princess Trust, said: “Pete’s support has been as brilliant as it has been creative.

“We really appreciate his generosity and that of all members at Burghill Valley who have actively got behind their captain’s fundraising for The Little Princess Trust.”

The helicopter ball drop, with flying support from Tiger Helicopters, will take place at 6pm on Friday, August 9.

Pete, who thanked Lou Haines for his fantastic help organising the helicopter ball drop, said one ball costs £3 while two balls can be bought for £5.

Anyone interested in supporting the event can email pete_griffiths99@hotmail.com or admin@bvgc.co.uk to buy a ball and support the work of The Little Princess Trust.
