LPT features on Operation Ouch!

CBBC episode marks World Cancer Day

The work of The Little Princess Trust featured prominently in a special episode of Operation Ouch! to mark World Cancer Day.

We were thrilled to welcome the fabulous presenter, Dr Xand, from the popular CBBC show to our HQ last year.

Dr Xand interviews LPT ambassador Teiva in our wig-ftting salon.

The camera crew filmed in various locations to gather a greater understanding of how our wigs are made – and Dr Xand had a go at making a wig under the guidance of our own in-house wig-knotter Holly.

Our founder Wendy and wig fitter Liz were also interviewed for the 'Let's Talk About Cancer' episode – as was our incredible ambassador Teiva.

LPT wig fitter Liz Pullar and our ambassador Teiva were filmed sorting incoming hair donations.

Teiva received one our wigs while undergoing chemotherapy for leukaemia and gave a very personal insight into what it’s like for a young person to be diagnosed with cancer.

She also spoke of the many health challenges that remain for child cancer patients, even after they have 'rung the bell' to signal the end of their treatment.

The Operation Ouch! production team get ready to film inside The Hannah Tarplee Building.

World Cancer Day is marked on February 4 all around the world. It raises awareness of cancer to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment – many of the topics that were talked about so bravely and eloquently by Teiva.

Operation Ouch! aired on the CBBC channel on February 8 while it can still be watched on the BBC iPlayer.
