Martin Lewis spreads the word about LPT
Social media post attracts huge response from hair donors and wig recipients
Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has spread the word about The Little Princess Trust to his one million followers on Instagram.
The financial journalist used his social media platform to tell people that his colleague Helen Knapman had cut and donated her long locks to LPT.
Helen is the news editor of Martin’s popular MSE website and kindly chose to support us.
Writing on his Instagram page, Martin said he noticed that Helen had had her hair cut to a shoulder-length bob.
“I told her how nice it looked,” he added. “Then I found out she’d done it to donate the hair to children with cancer (via The Little Princess Trust).
“So I hope it feels as good as it looks. Bravo.”
The post has attracted more than 18,000 likes and 200 comments on Martin’s Instagram page with many of those responding explaining their own hair donation story.
Caroline Preedy was one of those to respond. She said: “My granddaughter has donated her hair three times already and she’s only seven-years-old. The Little Princess Trust is a wonderful charity in our home town and we’re always happy to support them.”
Anna Leggett added that her daughter also helped ‘our worthwhile charity’ while broadcaster Carol Vorderman congratulated Helen on her donation.
There were also relatives of wig recipients who commented on the post to pass on their thanks to hair donors.
Helen Smith wrote: “My daughter was a grateful recipient of a wig from this wonderful charity, so I thank everyone for donating from the bottom of my heart as I saw first-hand the joy it can bring.”
And Caz Hibbert added: “The Little Princess Trust also help children and young adults with alopecia. My daughter has benefited. It’s a great charity. Thank you for donating.”
