Our Hair and Hope message reaches Antarctica

Long locks cut in one of the world's most southerly places
The vast reach of The Little Princess Trust's incredible support was in evidence again this week when hair was cut for us in Antarctica!
Adelaide Island’s Rothera research station might be one of the most southerly located places on the planet, but that hasn't stopped our message of Hair and Hope from arriving there.
Despite the cold, four friends kindly cut their long locks to help our mission to provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people.
Jo Cole, one of the four to kindly donate their hair, said the group’s task is to support important scientific research that monitors and discovers how the world works and is responding to our ever-changing climate.
Rey, the station leader, Juan, the head of the construction team, and Andy, a wintering field guide, joined Jo in donating their hair to LPT.
Jo, a science co-ordinator and meteorologist, said that having worked with children in youth groups, nurseries and schools, she had seen children struggle with medical conditions beyond their control and knows how difficult it was for them to fit in and make friends.
“The Little Princess Trust helps make this process easier for many children that are going through some incredibly difficult times,” she added.
“I am proud to be able to help with an asset that freely grows on my head and hopefully can make a child smile and get back to the important things in life of having fun and enjoying life!
“These hair donations may be one of the stranger items I have had to transport in my suitcase and an interesting one to explain away if I get stopped at customs but hopefully one day it will make someone very happy.”
The Little Princess Trust has now received hair donations from an incredible 129 countries. Remarkably, this has happened without us ever intentionally pushing our message overseas and once again shows how the power of doing good can spread to every corner of the globe.
