Young cancer patients inspire Spanish climb to help LPT

One of LPT’s funded researchers will be part of a team scaling the heights of a mountain range in Catalonia to help the young people she admires so much and hopes to help through her work.

As a cancer biologist, Dr Alejandra Bruna is continuously inspired by the incredible displays of strength, stamina and courage shown by young cancer patients and their families.

She said climbing brings great perspective into our lives and will take on the iconic Montserrat mountain to raise money for two charities that mean a lot to her.

Alejandra Bruna will be climbing high to help The Little Princess Trust and Alice's Arc.

The Little Princess Trust is one of those to benefit while Alice's Arc, a community of scientists, families and doctors working together to defeat rhabdomyosarcoma, is the other.

Dr Bruna received funding from The Little Princess Trust to study neuroblastoma cells in much greater detail to learn how tumours develop and use the knowledge gained to develop new treatments.

She will be joined on the climbing challenge in June by a group who call themselves ‘Climbing4kidswithcancer’ who all want to support research searching for kinder and more effective treatments for young patients with cancer.

The full team is made up of Alberto, Alejandra, Arnau, Christian, Joerg, Josep, Juampi, Karim, Pablo, Pep, Pere, Pilar, Rafa and Victor.
