Ruth sets a record with the longest ever hair donation

Her hair reached the floor before cut made LPT history

Ruth Tripp has smashed The Little Princess Trust’s record for the longest ever hair donation.

Her incredible locks reached the floor before she donated 67 (SIXTY-SEVEN!!!) inches of hair to us.

It took two people to cut Ruth's impressive long locks.

Ruth, who is from Devon, had long wanted to make an extra special donation to help children with hair loss.

Her previous visit to the hairdressers came six years ago – but that cut was a just little trim that left her long locks down to her waist.

Ruth Tripp hands over her record hair donation to Phil Brace and Wendy Tarplee-Morris.

She patiently continued to grow her hair - and wear it in a sizeable bun - until she knew she was ready to make LPT history.

Husband James said Ruth has strong hair as she did not need any special product and continued to use the same shampoo and conditioner as anyone else.

“It just took her a bit longer for her hair to dry,” he added.

The big cut took place during a family fun day at Devon and Somerset fire service headquarters when sponsorship was gathered for the hair cut to support good causes including The Little Princess Trust.

Ruth then made the journey up the M5 to our headquarters in Hereford to make the special delivery of hair and got to see some of the wigs that we provide to children and young people.

The previous record was set in 2023 when an anonymous supporter donated 52 inches of hair.
